Festung Hohensalzburg
The Hohensalzburg Fortress is a monument that is over 900 years old and one of the largest existing castle complexes in Europe dating back to the 11th century. Legends and myths seem to be hidden in every crack of the wall and in every nook and cranny: interesting backgrounds as well as stories that have been passed down. Take a look back into the everyday life of the people, as it may have looked at the time of the archbishops in this center of power north of the Alps.
The Hohensalzburg Fortress is a real eye-catcher high above the baroque towers of the city. As a landmark visible from afar, the fortress is an unmistakable part of Salzburg's world-famous silhouette. It appears mighty to the visitor from afar, and history can be experienced up close behind its thick walls.
